International Women’s Day Commemorated at Emin Pasha Hotel, Kampala
By Ronnie Mayanja | Annually on 8th March, thousands of events are held throughout the world to inspire women and celebrate their achievements. A global web of rich and diverse local activity connects women from all around the world and these range from political rallies, business conferences, government sponsored activities and networking events like local crafts markets, theatrical performances, fashion parades and more.
International Women’s Day is therefore a day of global celebration for economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. With the very first women’s day celebration held in 1911 Tuesday March 8th marked 100 years of this celebration.
In Kampala these celebrations were held at Emin Pasha Hotel and drew a cross section of revellers many of whom celebrated the ‘artistic woman’ in song, dance and fashion. The event was organised by Alias Francois and also sponsored by Tullow Oil, Bank of Africa, Sanyu FM, Orange, AON, Signature Art and GraphiConsult.
