Watoto performed at the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant last night (9th May 2012). The children were honoured and excited to be part of the celebrations at this historical event at Windsor Castle, in honour of Queen Elizabeth’s 60 years of reign (June 2012).

The Watoto Children’s Choir are inspirational ambassadors of the millions of children in Africa, orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDs, poverty and war.

The choir will be performing again tonight, 10th May through Sunday 13th May 2012 before Her Majesty the Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. They will be presenting Beautiful Africa, the title track of their new album.

Beautiful Africa: A New Generation is a rich and vibrant, original African piece accompanied with a blend of colourful traditional and contemporary dance routines.

Written and composed by the choir, the song is a representation of their story of hope. It’s a story of a new generation of African leaders emerging, to rescue a continent from ruin. Through the power of Jesus’ love, every one of the children in the choir has been raised from desperate situations to a life of dignity, value and purpose.

Accompanied by a team of 13 adults, the choir comprises 22 children. Each of the children in the choir has suffered the loss of one or both parents. They live in Watoto children’s village homes, provided with all that they need to grow up healthy and whole. Their audiences have included the Queen of England, President George Bush, and the UK, Australian, Canadian and Scottish parliaments, among others.

“After having had the privilege to perform before Her Majesty, the Queen of England and Prince Phillip the Duke of Edinburg at Buckingham Palace in November 2007 and then again in Kampala during the Commonwealth Heads of State Meeting during the same year; we are honoured to be a part of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant this year,” says Gary Skinner, Founder: Watoto Ministries.
‘Beautiful Africa’ is now being presented in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, UK, and USA throughout 2012.

Watoto Child Care Ministries is an holistic care organisation that is dedicated to the plight of orphaned children and vulnerable women; including former child soldiers and the war-torn community of northern Uganda. Currently, Watoto cares for more than 4,700 orphans and vulnerable women. Watoto was birthed with a strategic mission to rescue vulnerable children and women, raise the next generation of leaders, and in so doing rebuild the continent of Africa.
