On Saturday June 9th 2012 in the city of Hurst, Texas the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in conjunction with the World bank will hold an outreach workshop aimed at identifying Diaspora infrastructural talent. Findings from this workshop are meant to be used as a resource in designing the strategic framework used in our infrastructure development plan. Uganda today is in need of new roads and railway networks and there is no better way to harness and develop this sector without involving the Ugandan Diaspora.

The Diaspora Services Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headed by Ms. Bati Kawooya recognises the importance of the Diaspora as development partners in helping fast track infrastructure developments activities over the next several years in the country. With Uganda’s recent Oil discovery about to grow our economy exponentially, Uganda is now ripe for the next phase of its development. Road, rail and IT networks are now needed to move goods and services across the country.

Many Ugandan professionals living and working in North America are therefore called upon to participate in this workshop that will be held in the Dallas Fort Worth Metroplex. The Workshop will be held at the Hurst Conference Center and will cover the entire day starting at 9am with a networking session and entertainment planned for the later part of the evening. Lunch will be provided to all attendees.

This is therefore our opportunity to give back of our time, expertise and resources as a way to help lead our nation to the path of national development.
