On Friday October 12th – The final do among the many Uganda’s 50th Independence Gala’s that had began in January was held at Kampala Serena Hotel in what was a colorful evening that featured the young Kingz Kidz representing the next generation of leaders and music legends and traditional artists from Uganda’s Music Industry. There was an array of entertainment ranging from Music, Dance and Drama. Under the theme Uganda Cultural Independence Gala ‘The rebirth of nation’. The purpose of the evening was to inspire the next generation of leaders whilst celebrating our heritage as a people and promoting Uganda as a major tourism and investment destination in the region.

Among the many highlights of the day was the TagaArt exhibition and  Mcee Isaac Rucci’s stellar performance that kept the audience entertained. Other notable appearances included the current Miss Uganda, Kyle Big Brother, Comedian Herman Segujja known for his imitations of the President, Fiona Wamala Kobz, Exodus, Hum Kay, Levixone, Bedford, Hawa and a unique musical performance by Maurice Kirya and Myko Ouma. Also featured was Uganda’s leading Cultural Ambassadors  Ndere Troupe and fashion that saw new kid on the block Lois Ampeire and fashion gurus Xenson and Stella Atal unleash their independence collection sponsored by Nytil.

Also making an appearance and celebrating his 25th year in Uganda was Dr. Ian Clarke first set up clinic in Kiwoko before expanding into the IHK – IMG vision. Video montage of this journey was also shared with audience and so was history of Uganda’s independence in a video provided by Promote Uganda. As the evening progressed the vision for Uganda over the next 50 years was articulated by every speaker using their brands and products. This was indeed a unique end to the celebrations that had began in January of this year.

The event was sponsored by Housing Finance Bank, Bank of Uganda, International Medical Group, Nile Special, National Housing, Uganda Wildlife Authority, Uganda Tourism Board, South African Airways, Ethiopian Airlines, New Vision, Nytil, Pepsi, Fenon Entertainment and host of other partners. The event planner was Ronnie Mayanja. Special thanks to Bedford Buyungo, Solomon Jagwe, Timothy Kiwala, Ruth Bahika, Apolo Ndyabahika, Lois Ampeire, Stella Atal, Xenson, Kalungi Kabuye, the artists who graced our stage and all our sponsors and partners that supported the Independence gala.
