Press Relase — It has been a long wait but finally ” The Ugandan”, a story about Asians entangled in relationships in the wake of their expulsion from Uganda in the early 1970s by the then General Idi Amin is upon us. Boston is going to be the first City to premier “The Ugandan”, an hour and a half long movie written and directed by Patrick Sekyaya, a director who has been nominated in Uganda at the Super Talents Awards and produced and edited by Alvin Kasule. On December 6th, 2012, all roads will therefore lead to Embassy Cinema Theatre, 16 Pine Street in Waltham.  Buy your tickets at

The Ugandan which won the Best Narrative Feature at this year’s Silicon Valley African film festival out of 35 movies from 15 countries that took part in the festival held in Golden State of California. The showtime will be at 6:00pm till 9:30pm. According to the Movie  Producer, Alvin Kasule guests at the premier will include Movie actors, the City of Waltham Mayor, Hollywood and Nollywood celebrities, Miss Africa USA, among others.

The Movie plot is shot around the story of Raman who gets blackmailed by Becky, his Ugandan girlfriend when he claims his father’s property. But his daughter falls in love with Becky’s brother. It’s a story of  lies, love and xenophobia.  The story of Idi Amin’s era is retold from a relationship point of view and the challenges that come with inter-racial relationships in a country where polarization has created deep mistrust on all sides.
