Kampala Dispatch. Day – One at the Local Capital and Financial Markets Summit 2013 held at Kampala Serena Hotel’s Katonga hall was quite a success with some key business leaders participating in panel discussions. Organised and hosted by Focus on East Africa the two day event has generated lots of interest among business leaders within East Africa.

Topics ranged from Putting Uganda’s growth story to the test, Charting the new Financial landscape, Navigating the IPO Market in Uganda, Financing the Ugandan Agri-business opportunity, Alternative Financing solutions for Ugandan businesses, The future of Infrastructure finance initiatives in Uganda.

The presentations were punctuated by some insightful Q&A sessions and some profitable networking sessions. The summit will run for two days May 21st-22nd 2013. Some of the key speakers included Mr. Patrick Bitature the Chairman of Ugandan Investment Authority, Mr. Japheth Katto the CEO- Capital Markets Authority, Stephen Mulema, Head Financial Markets Team at Bank of Uganda, Joseph Kitamirike CEO- Uganda Securities Exchange, Ana Lucia Coronel the IMF Senior Resident Representative in Uganda, Prof. Maggie Kigozi, Mr. Steven Kaboyo and a host of other business and financial leaders in Uganda.

Day Two – will feature speakers like the EU Ambassador to Uganda Mr. Roberrto Rudolfi, Mr. Elly Karuhanga, among others and topics will range from the Return Maximization for Pension Funds – A fund Managers perspective, A case study of the European Union’s Small and Medium Agri-business Development Fund in Uganda, Uganda’s Private Equity Market, Investment Groups and SACCOs Forum, Unlocking Local Capital. The two day summit is expected to be closed by Uganda’s Finance Minister Hon. Maria Kiwanuka on Wednesday.
