On behalf of the African Canadian Soccer and Cultural Association (ACSCA), I am delighted to bring you greetings on behalf of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors. As I begin my two-year term as the new ACSCA President, I am filled with a mixture of excitement and anticipation. It is an honor to serve my community in this capacity and I look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

It is my goal as President to continue to work hard to solidify the annual programs that ACSCA run for the community.

Five Key Programs that I intend to carry on and ensure their success include:

Hosting the Annual Soccer and Cultural Festival now in its 19th Consecutive year and scheduled for August 10-11, 2013 at our home fields Burnaby Lake Sports Complex East.

  • Participation of Africa United FC in the Premier Summer Richmond Nations Cup Tournament
  • Participation of Africa United FC in the Summer Multicultural Soccer League, and
  • Hosting the Annual End of Summer African All-Star Games.

It is also important to note that these Community events are not self-sustained, and as a result, ACSCA relies heavily on funding and corporate sponsorships to run these community events. To that effect, I would like to thank our major sponsors; the City of Burnaby through Festivals Burnaby, the Province of British Columbia through the Multiculturalism Grants Program, Western Union Canada, Heineken Canada, Abantu Beauty Products and Umbro Canada for their generosity. I also want to thank small businesses that support ACSCA through vending and magazine advertising. You are appreciated.

Lastly, I want to encourage everyone to sign up to become members of ACSCA. Membership forms can be picked up at www.acsca.net and all Africans and Friends of Africa can become members. Thank you very much all members of ACSCA, volunteers, and teams for your dedication towards Community Service and making a difference in the growing African Community in British Columbia. ACSCA is Growing to Serve and Serving to Grow and it’s an honor to be your President for the next two years.

God Bless Africa and Friends of Africa!
