The annual Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Carnival or Kampala Festival as its commonly known was held on Sunday 5th October 2014 starting from 9am. The day long event this year saw several stages built at various points in the city with many entertainers gracing the colorful ceremony. The Kampala festival is by far the biggest street party and outdoor gathering in East Africa attracting a cross section of revelers.

In a break with tradition this year’s highlights included a religious element that saw Muslims occupy the grounds around Parliament avenue while the Christians were hosted at the Sheraton gardens. Equally noteworthy this year the kids activities were also held at the city square gardens.

Overall more people turned up this year at the various celebration points where live entertainment had been set up. Kampala Road all the way to Jinja road was a flurry of activity as more revelers, food and drink vendors concentrated in areas with live entertainment.

Credit goes to the organizers, the management team at KCCA and the security personnel who did a good ensuring people’s safety at the event. For more details about the Kampala Festival 2014 please visit
