The city of Boston on July Fourth had a rare treat of Diaspora wedding by one of the oldest and perhaps leading entrepreneurs in the Ugandan Diaspora community of New England. Richard Sekatawa Sempebwa has been a resident of Massachusetts having arrived around 1995 with little or nothing to show. Richard settled and started several business including the importation of American cars to Uganda and a community money lending business here in Massachusetts.

Richard wed his long time fiance Winifred Murungi Kateera and the two love birds were joined in holy Matrimony by Pastor John Baker Katende who officiated the church service at St. Paul Anglican Church Namirembe in Waltham, MA.

Later the couple held a colorful reception at the Burlington Marriott Hotel with a crowd of more than 700 guests. This was a testament of Mr. Sempebwa’s public relations in the Ugandan Community. The couple treated their guests to an open bar and a sumptuous dinner.

Prior to the reception the couple held an introduction ceremony (Kwanjula) the day before and a pre-wedding party (Kasiki) that were also attended by many community members (see images below).

Richard and Winifred would like to extend their appreciation to the Boston community for all the support you showed them during their wedding preparations. All photos appear courtesy of Joseph Kiddu — Pictures Tell Inc.
