EACC Dallas Chapter | Local East African Chamber of Commerce To Promote International Trade.

A Dallas based East Africa Chamber of Commerce-EACC, will be hosting its seventh annual trade and investment conference, October 15th to 17th, 2015 in Richardson, Texas, at Hyatt Regency Hotel. “The focus of EACC is on trade between United States and the countries of East Africa region which are; Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, and Southern Sudan. Ethiopia has shown interest in joining the East African Community.” Said Edwin Karuga, the current Chairman and Founding Member of EACC.

Karuga explained that the East Africa region is one of the fastest growing in Africa. Growth is happening in all sectors of the economy. This means that there are many investment opportunities for local investors and also investment partnerships between American investors and East African businesses, governmental agencies and non-governmental.

There are many investment opportunities in such areas as energy, technology, infrastructure, health, transport and human development among others. Among those who will be arriving here in Dallas to attend the EACC conference is Henry Banyenzaki, Uganda’s Minister for Economic Monitoring in the Office of the President. He is also a Member of Parliament in Uganda. Kenya’s ambassador in United States, Robison Njeru Githae. Mrs. Marsha Getto-Aikens, business development strategist for Gensler, Mr. Bill Morgan, a cyber security expert who has worked with many governments around the world. He is the CEO & Founding Principal of Avistas, an international management consulting firm.

Local and international investors and business professionals will be attending. Those who attend the conference will also have the opportunity to tour local industries, businesses and other areas of interests. This will give them a firsthand experience of how things work and are operated here in Dallas area, Karuga explained. There will also be a dinner gala with cultural and fashion performances by local and international artists along with featured keynote speakers inspiring and inviting cross-boarder collaborations.

Individual businesses and corporate businesses have sponsored this event. We are very thankful. The city of Dallas and city of Richardson have established very good relationships with the EACC, he explained. “There are many United States companies that have already began to invest in East Africa.

IBM recently 12th global innovation research laboratory in Kenya. Oil and gas discovery in East Africa has also attracted many USA companies. There is trade going on currently between Texas and East Africa but there is a lot of room for growth in this area.” Karuga pointed out.
