Uganda Decides | President Museveni duly Nominated to Contest for his 5th Term in Office.

The President of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who is also seeking a fifth term in office was nominated November 3rd at about 10.21am.  The President who drove to Namboole stadium in a convoy of about 100 vehicles was accompanied by his wife Janet Museveni, NRM vice president Moses Kigongo and many other loyal cadres.

His nomination was proposed by Prime Minister Ruhakana Rugunda and seconded by Junior Youth minister Evelyn Anite – famous for her kneeling move to ‘beg’ President Museveni to stand as a sole candidate in the NRM at the party’s retreat in Kyankwanzi last year.

After his nomination Museveni told journalists, that he has “done a lot already” for the country, but that it will be the voters who will determine if indeed he is the best candidate in next year’s race.

Museveni said Uganda is now at take off stage having gone and outgrown past stages of liberation, recovery and foundation. From Namboole, Museveni drove to Kololo Independence Grounds where he was received by mammoth crowds. Thousands had lined up along the streets all the way from Jinja road to Kololo.
