The Kalema-Musoke family with deep sorrow announces the untimely death of their pillar (sister/wife/mother/daughter) Mrs Barbara Kalema- Musoke who passed away today December 20th in Geneva, Switzerland after battling breast cancer.

At the time of her death Mrs. Barbara Kalema-Musoke was the Deputy Director, Human Resources Division at UNHCR in Geneva, Switzerland. She joined UNHCR in January 2012, and was also responsible for the management of Recruitment, Assignments and Promotions; Career management and Affiliate Workforce in UNHCR.

Prior to joining UNHCR, Ms. Kalema-Musoke worked at the IMF and before that she was with the World Bank. Mrs. Kalema-Musoke, a Ugandan national, had a Masters degree in Human Resources Management from Marymount University in the USA. She was mother and a wife to Mr. Fred Kalema-Musoke formerly of Burke, Virginia.

Funeral Arrangements

Dear Friends and Family,

Thank you so much for reaching out and sending condolences to our family at this time of grief for our loved one. While we are deeply saddened by Barbara’s passing, it is your support, strength and love that has comforted us these last few days. We can’t thank you enough for helping keep Barbara’s spirit alive. As we prepare for the long journey to take Barbara home to her resting place, we wish to share some details for the travels and funeral services.

On Wednesday, December 23rd, 2015, we will hold a Funeral Service in Geneva, Switzerland at

St. Jean XXIII Catholic Church

There will be a viewing at 10:00 AM followed by the Mass (Service) which will start at 11:00 AM. Following the Mass, there will be a brief reception at the Church hall.
For those wishing to offer flowers, please send them directly to the funeral home to reach before 8:30AM on Wednesday, Dec. 23 (day of the funeral service) at:

On Monday, December 28th, 2015: Barbara and the family will leave Geneva for Uganda via Brussels. We will arrive at Entebbe on Tuesday, December 29th, 2015 at 8:45 PM on flight SN469 from Brussels.
On Wednesday, December 30th, 2015: A funeral service has been confirmed for Dec. 30th at Rubaga Cathedral starting at 10:00AM.
The burial will take place at Ggangu, Kyaddondo (Busabala Road); 4 miles off Entebbe Road.
DIRECTIONS: From Kampala take Entebbe Road. At Nnajjanankumbi Shell Petrol Station on your left, make a left onto Busabala Road. Go past Masajja Primary School and continue straight to Ggangu hill. At the top of Ggangu hill, continue straight past the shopping center. Go for about 1 km and the funeral place will be at the late Kagulu’s home on your left.

After the service at Rubaga Cathedral, Barbara will be taken to spend a night at their home in Ggangu, Kyaddondo on Busabala Road where the funeral will take place onThursday, December 31, 2015 at 2:00PM following a brief funeral service at noon.

We mourn that Barbara has left our community, but we thank God for such a beautiful, kind, and most industrious woman Barbara was.
