New Kid On the Block ‘Keko’ Performs at UNAA Denver Convention!

By Ronnie Mayanja ~ Among the headliners at this year’s UNAA Convention was Uganda’s new hip hop rap sensation KEKO, real names Keko Jocelyn Travis. Her rise to fame came early this year (2010) with the releases of ‘’Fallen heroes’’ a duet with the Hip hop canvas 2010 ”How we do” and her first single Alwoo(cry for help).

Born on June 3rd to Japadhola parents from Tororo, the self proclaimed Queen of RAP has since collaborated on a number of songs with numerous Ugandan artistes from Juliana to Joanita kawalya also including the much acclaimed ‘’ Go Green’’a climate change awareness song with Angela Katatumba. Keko was also recently nominated for the Channel O music awards for her ‘This is how we do it’ hit single.

The Tororo born Rapper was influenced by a number of artistes both local and international. These range from Nasir “nas” Jones,2pac Shakur, Lupe fiasco,the game, Cuban link, Jozi, Lauryn hill, Gang of instrumentals to Afrigo band, Angelique Kidjo and Klear kut.
