By Ronnie Mayanja — All roads led to Kololo airstrip on October 9th in what was a colorful 50th Golden Jubilee Celebrations attended by more than 15 Heads of State and Government from the East, Central, West, North and Southern Africa. Other Notable attendees included the Duke of Kent who represented the Queen in handing then Uganda’s first Prime Minister Apollo Milton Obote the Instruments of power at Independence and his royal highness the Agha Khan.

The major highlight of the day was the low flying newly acquired military jet fighters an assurance of Uganda’s Military might in the East and Central Africa that flew past the crowd in Kololo in an air show that lasted more than 15 minutes amidst loud cheering from the guests that thronged Kololo Airstrip to witness the occasion. In his remarks President Museveni reminded Ugandans that with the discovery of Oil and the completion of Bujagali Hydro Power station, Uganda is on its way to economic prosperity.
