St. Peters Anglican Church of Uganda Annual Building Fundraiser Highlights and Pictures – Boston

On Sunday November 25th 2012 all roads led to the St.Peters Church of Uganda’s Fundraiser that was held at the Hellenic Centre, 50 Bigelow Ave, Watertown, Massachusetts at 4.00PM. The Fundraiser that has now become an annual event is part of the Church’s mission to buy a permanent home for St.Peters Church of Uganda in Boston. This years fundraiser raised more than $8000 dollars in cash and pledges and saw items like smoked Cat Fish(Semutundu), Lugabire, Flags and Cakes baked by the Mother’s Union all auctioned and bought by the highest bidders. One particular bid item the Buganda Government Certificate attracted a bid price of over $1000 dollars from a kingdom loyalist amidst jubilation from the crowd.

A sumptious dinner was also served and loads of entertainment led by the Touch N’ Soul Band and it was later time for DJ Kasenge treat the audience to some musical tunes as they danced away the night . The fundraising drive was led by Mr. Moses Kalemba and Mr. David Makumbi. St. Peters is a Uganda Anglican community based church in Boston, USA and a member of the world-wide Anglican Communion with affiliation to Anglican Church of Uganda.

St. Peter’s Church first opened its doors for worship on Christmas Day 25th December, 2006 after a group of Ugandans in Boston led by Mr. Israel Iga approached the Rev. Dr. Alex Kasirye-Musoke and asked him to lead them in this ministry. The first service was led by the Rev. Alex Kasirye- Musoke and the Rev. Christine Nakyeyune Busuulwa who still serve this congregation as its Pastoral leader. In 2007, the Rev. Mary Tusuubira joined clergy to make the team of three priests.

St.Peters Church of Uganda’s Mission can be summarized in the belief that their congregation’ needs are of the utmost importance and congregation is committed to meet both the spiritual and physical aspects of this community.
