“The UNAA Dallas 2013 Convention/Silver Jubilee” Local organizing committee heads, participated in the closed session meetings with the UNAA Executive/Council members this past weekend of [16th and 17th March in Dallas during their site visit. The first face to face meeting which was meant to review and stream line the ongoing Convention preparations between the National and Local organizing committees.

The meeting also consisted of “Tasting of some of the traditional” foods that will be served during the convention as well as a guided tour of the newly built prestigious Omni Hotel Dallas, which will serve as “Home” for the convention delegates during the labour day weekend of August 30th -September 1st 2013.

Saying that the UNAA Executive was highly impressed with the overall progress on ground, would be an understatement, as previous UNAA convention planning committee records in relation to the existing local planning committees, reveal that the “Dallas UNAA 2013 LOC” has by so far exceeded all rankings in all essential aspects of the initial planning expectations.

After a long intense and restless day of meetings, which began at the down town Dallas Omni Hotel from 08:am – 05:15 between the UNAA Executive and the UNAA Dallas 2013 LOC, continued at the Hurst, Best Value Hotel where they met the general community in a town hall meeting.  Some of the UNAA community guests travelled from surrounding cities such as Midland, Tyler, Austin, White settlement. Guests were treated to a typical Ugandan/Texas style dinner.

Thanks to a team of some community ladies and gentlemen under the headship of the UAA-DFW’s first lady Nnalongo Mauricia Kayizzi, who rallied the food/drinks drive. During dinner time, Ssalongo Roy Kayizzi, the President of local community organization [UAA-DFW] introduced a surprise birthday cake in commemoration of his wife’s birthday, which happened to fall on the same day we held our community meetings.

Although a lot of progress has been harnessed so far, Pastor Ishmael Kigozi noted that some communities are still in the dark in as far as the ongoing convention publicity is concerned. However Mr. Brian Kwesiga, the Chairman of the “UNAA Dallas 2013 LOC” who also doubles as the “UNAA Deputy Speaker”, emphasized that such concern can only be deterred if the entire Dallas community took it upon themselves to continue making phone calls, sending Text messages and e-mails to respective family member’s and friends across the country.
