The 13th African Cultural Festival In Lowell – Check Out The Highlights In Pictures

On Saturday June 15th all roads led to the Sampas Pavillion in Lowell for the 13th annual African Cultural Festival. Started as event to help celebrate the African heritage this year saw performances from Rumba Africa (a world-class Soukous band from Congo based in Massachusetts), Akwa aba Dance troupe from Ghana, Wazobia Dance Ensemble from Medford, Lowell Community Charter Public School’s Afro-Latino Drum group and a host of other groups that included Uganda’s very own Batabazi Crew.

There was plenty of food from all corners of the continent, African art, crafts and jewelry that were also sold at very competitive prices. Games for kids and flags from the different countries represented on the continent were also hoisted. Also in attendance were some of Massachusetts politicians and a host of other dignitaries.
