Renown celebrated Ugandan Gospel artists Judith Babirye and Pastor Wilson Bugembe were in Boston July 6th independence weekend for what was a sold out Gospel Music Extravaganza. The duo that now holds annual summer gospel concerts in Boston did not disappoint as they performed hit after hit as their fan base took to the dance floor.

Among Judith Babirye’s favorite crowd pullers were songs like Beera Nange, Omusaayi Gwa Yesu, Nzijukira, Yesu Asobola, Wanjagala, and what has now become her classic signature tune or hit single ‘Oh Maama’ a song she dedicated to all the mothers both alive and dead for the role they play in our upbringing. For an artist whose music relates to life experiences common to all mankind and celebrates her relationship with God, Judith had both a christian and secular audience that took to the dance floor periodically as they sung along with her.

The other big music artist cum Pastor was Wilson Bugembe whose testimony right from Masaka, were he grew up amid-st poverty and the loss of his two parents, some of his siblings and suffering as a street child. It’s amidst this background that Pastor Bugembe has now appeals to both secular and Christian audiences who love and appreciate his music.

Pastor Bugembe’s big break came through a song called Njagala Kumanya that got numerous power play both on television and radio stations in Uganda. From Njagala Kumanya, Pastor Bugembe proved that he had come to stay when he released yet another society relating song titled Komawo Eka, Kani and Ani. All the above hits were performed at the sold out Boston concert held at 295 California street.
