The first biennial Buganda bumu conference kicked off in at the Best Western Hotel Malboro a suburb of Boston during the memorial day weekend attracting several Baganda in North America. Among the Day 2 highlights was the official recognition and swearing in of the newly appointed Kabaka’s representatives in the Diaspora. Speaking about the need to preserve Buganda and embracing Change the Katikiro spoke about why they started the Etoofali campaign and the progress so far made at Mengo.

The 3 day conference continues today and is expected to further discuss developmental issues affecting Buganda. In his speech the Katikiro  Owek. Peter Mayiga reiterated the need to stay united as a people and embark on more developmental projects for the kingdom. He also conveyed the Kabaka’s message to his subjects.

The conference has attracted several prominent members including members of the Buganda royal family. Others in attendance are the deputy Katikiro, Mengo Ministers, Buganda Land Board Executives, Buganda Foundation members and prominent businessmen from Buganda. The conference is organized by Gwanga Mujje Boston in conjunction with other Buganda chapters across North America.
