Congratulations! ~ Gwanga Mujje DC Chapter crowns Josephine Nakato Kasozi as Miss Buganda DC 2018
The Gwanga Mujje DC Chapter crowned miss Josephine Nakato as the Miss Buganda DC 2018 Winner in a ceremony attended by Uganda’s Ambassador to Washington H.E. Mull Sebujja Katende. Congratulations to Josephine and all the other contestants that participated in the Miss Buganda DC 2018 pageant.
The event took place on Saturday, May 16th at the Viking Center in Burtonsville, Maryland. The pageant featured 6 contestants: Claudette Kasozi, Birungi Nsubuga, Nakato Kasozi, Ruth Nagayi, Caroline Nassall and Hilda Lule.
The pageant and event, hosted by Tendo Nsubuga and Zawe Magoba, beautifully portrayed the culture of Buganda as each contestant adorned an attire reflecting Buganda traditional dressing, and also took part in a Buganda dance off that delighted the guests.
According to the pageant’s Gofundme page, the pageant was created to give young Baganda women a platform to express their appreciation and knowledge of their Buganda culture. Their mission is based on a clear set of principles which are Service, Culture, Success and Style. The mission of Miss Buganda DC is to find, appreciate, and promote women with strong goals, as well as interest in promoting the Buganda culture, and supporting causes related to education and the empowerment of women.
