The Miss World 2018 was the 68th edition of the Miss World pageant that took place in Sanya, China on 8th December 2018. Outgoing Miss World Manushi Chhillar of India crowned her successor Vanessa Ponce of Mexico at the end of the event that saw Ugandas Quinn Abenakyo win the Miss World – Africa Continental finals and emerge overall 3rd runner up. Over 118 contestants from all over the world competed for the crown.
We SALUTE the efforts of Quinn, Brenda Nanyonjo and the Miss Uganda Franchise for making Uganda proud. Miss Abanekyo (22) is a computer science major, who hails from Mayuge District in eastern Uganda. In the head to head segment of the competition, she was paired with Miss Argentina Victoria Soto. All three judges voted for her, sending her into the Top 30 in the competition, the first Ugandan contestant to rise this high, in the history of the Miss World beauty pageant.
