The 2019 Miss Uganda North America Bootcamp and Beauty Pageant will be held in the city of Chicago during the 31st Annual UNAA Convention. The event, which features a red carpet and community awards for women empowerment voices, will take place at the Hyatt Regency Chicago on Friday August 30th 2019 starting at 5 pm. This year’s theme is Empowered by Diversity.

According to the program’s president Tibba Murungi Kabugu, “Women bring so much uniqueness to society. Uniqueness can be in the form of ancestry, socio-economic status, religious beliefs, political beliefs, race, preferences, lifestyle, past experiences and much more. Our Leadership Class of 2019 explores how diversity can be used to better the world, to spread a message of tolerance by celebrating the richness of culture, and to strengthen minority communities.” Tibba cofounded the program with her husband Julius Kabugu and they run the program out of Austin, Texas.

The event is preceded by a 3 day bootcamp for the contestants, where they meet various pageant coaches and mentors, and participate in team building activities. The event then kicks off on Friday August 30th with a Red Carpet at 5pm which features VIPs in designs from various African fashion designers and red carpet photographers. The dress code is AfroCasual / AfroCentric.

The beauty pageant will kick off at 6pm and it will feature showcases of Ugandan cultures, talent pieces from spoken word to dance and contestants dressed by some of Uganda’s top fashion designers including Monica Kansiime, Ras Kasozi, Edith Muyinda, Adrin Gelvin and Shakira Mutesi.

Prizes include a UNAA Emerging Leaders scholarship award for each of the top 3 finalists and a tourism, culture and charity trip to Uganda for the winner. You can vote or contribute towards the Queen’s charity activities by purchasing a copy of the magazine at www.missugnorthamerica.com. You can also follow the program on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to keep posted about their global women empowerment initiatives.

I’m planning to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost
on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many
choices out there that I’m totally overwhelmed .. Any recommendations?
    Thanks!
