TAA Fundraiser | Tooro American Association Donates Oxygen Cylinders & Regulators worth Shs. 22M to Buhinga Regional Referral Hospital.

Press Release — As one component of her mission (support the development and charitable programs in Tooro sub-region), on June 26th, 2021, the TAA Ground Team of Felly Kaboyo Akiiki, Douglas Saturday Atwooki and Aloysius Bingi Akiiki coordinated by the current TAA Chairman, Dr. Michael M Kisembo on behalf members and friends of Tooro American Association delivered to Buhinga Regional Referral Hospital ten (10) Oxygen Cylinders and Regulators to assist in on going effort to save the critical covid patients in need of oxygen.
These Supplies were purchased from Octopus Medical Solutions, in Kampala Uganda at a cost of UGX 2,200,000 each and were handed over Dr. Kaliisa Oscar who represented the Medical Director. Dr. Kaliisa thanked the Tooro American Association for the timely offer. Nevertheless, the Doctor emphasized that a lot more was still urgently needed. The bare minimum hospital would need was one hundred oxygen cylinders and regulators per day since they are required to supply other hospitals and institutions in the sub region stretching from Kasese to Kyegegwa.
The project which costed UGX 22,000,000 had been initiated in 2018 after the then TAA Chairman Albert Bakasara had visited the hospital and briefed on the critical needs of the Buhinga Hospital, in Fort Portal. The original aim of the project was to buy and supply Incubators for the hospital, but this was overtaken by rapidly changing events on the ground and as a result the TAA Board Meeting resolved and gave a new mandate to the new administration to channel the bulk of the funds to covid-19 related needs.
On behalf of TAA and on my own behalf, I would like to thank all members and friends of Tooro who have contributed so generously to come to the rescue of the people in this subregion. Efforts are continuing for more assistance to the region and beyond. The need is immense, do not get tired. The situation on the ground is critical. We must stand for them and cannot let them down. They are counting on us.
Dr. Michael Kisembo
Chairman
