Joshua Kiprui Cheptegei is a Ugandan long-distance runner and 2019 world champion in the 10,000 m. Cheptegei is the tenth man in history to hold the 5,000m and 10,000m world records concurrently, both set in 2020. In 2017, he became the silver medalist in the 10,000 metres event at the World Championship in London.
Joshua came in second at the Tokyo Olympics Friday winning a Silver medal behind Ethiopia’s Solomon Barega who took the gold while Jacob Kiplimo, the youngest-ever Ugandan Olympian at 15 years won bronze. (Photo credit courtesy of Cheptegei’s social media page!)
